In 2011, Dak Lak Trade – Investment – Tourism Promotion Centre gained remarkable achievements, contributing to the social-economic development of Dak Lak province. In coming time, the Centre will continue to foster investment promotion and support programmes, giving chances to enterprises to exchange and seek new investment opportunities. To study more about this topic, Vietnam Business Forum had an interview with Mr Ly Thanh Tung, the Centre’s Director. Ha Thao reports.
Can you talk about what Dak Lak Trade – Investment – Tourism Promotion Centre gained in the past year? What are your comments on such achievements?
Concerning investment promotion, Dak Lak Promotion Centre for Trade – Investment – Tourism has provided guidance on investment procedures for over 100 internal and external investors coming to study investment opportunities and attracted 47 projects with total registered capital of nearly VND 2,000 billion, equal to 68.11 percent against 2010 (69 projects). Although the number of projects is not high and gained achievements haven’t kept pace with provincial potential, the investment projects’ efficiency was meaningful, positively contributing to local social-economic development with economic structure shifting in the positive direction of increasing the percentage of industry and service and reducing the percentage of agriculture. In trade and tourism promotion, the Centre has assisted 42 local enterprises, manufacturing units and cooperatives to attend national and international fairs.
For the past year, the provincial tourism promotion activities saw thriving activity, with tourism enterprises attending various tourism fairs, exhibitions; linking tour routes with regional markets in order to attract tourists to the province; holding training courses on professionalism to continuously improve knowledge and skills for provincial tourism and service staff.
The Centre has been active in mobilizing and coordinating with enterprises and associations in the industry to participate in big trade fairs in national trade promotion programmes, introducing provincial key export products, handicrafts and trading villages, in which National programmes have worked and created firm foundation for enterprises to promote their business.
Tourism is considered one of the strengths of DakLak, what are some key investment projects in this field in the coming time?
Dak Lak is located in the Centre of Central Highland with convenient transport infrastructure such as highway 14, 26, 27, 29 and Buon Ma Thuot Airport which are completed; restaurants and hotels meet the demand of national and international tourists. At the same time, increasing tourism enterprises as well as more varied tourism forms has resulted in increasing number of tourists coming here. Dak Lak is granted with natural potential for attractive and unique eco-tourism.
The province targets to make tourism the provincial economic spearhead and one of the main drivers of the provincial economic structure, to increase tourism’s percentage in provincial GDP to 2.37 percent by 2015, 3.4 percent by 2020 and 4.92 percent by 2030. Given the master plan for tourism development in 2010-2020 with vision to 2030, Dak Lak province will focus on key tourism projects such as Ha Lan Mountain Pass Project, Cu Lue Hill Eco-tourism site, Ea Kao Lake, Ea Kar Lake and Chu Cu Lake, Cu H’Lam Hill forest ecotourism site, golf, and others to exploit tourism potential, corresponding to our strategic location in the Central Highlands area.
What are some investment promotion programmes in 2012?
The Promotion Centre will actively consult, provide information about investment, investment law and preferential policies in Dak Lak, preparation for investment project, preparation of documents for enterprise establishment, representative office and branch opening; guidance on local investment procedures; assist investors to seek appropriate investment sites, help projects to tackle difficulties and obstacles in project implementation in the province.
At the same time, the Centre will also foster and coordinate with the press and media, release materials in many languages to keep the people and national and international investors updated; build short reportages about investment and trading activities, investment environment, resettlement sites; and build legal materials as well as the investment environment.
Besides, promotional and investment mobilization will be made with state groups and corporations, Vietnam Young Entrepreneur Association, national developed Industrial Zones; the Centre will also welcome entrepreneur teams from Korea, Japan, and Taiwan to study the investment status in Dak Lak. The survey on overseas investment should focus on hi-tech agriculture with participation of agricultural enterprises; studying and following experience and national local promotional models.
In addition, the Centre will actively provide training for staff involved in investment promotion, Governmental officials as well as businesses via construction investment management training courses for enterprises. Meanwhile, there will be organized investment promotional conferences, signed investment cooperation programmes with other provinces such as Danang and HCMC. Concurrently, investment promotional programmes will be linked with those of local trade, tourism and culture.
