With impressive business results: revenues in six years (2006 - 2011) of more than VND23,000 billion, VND5,000 billion of profits, tax payments of VND1,700 billion, and average annual growth of 25 - 30 percent, Saigon Newport Corporation continues to assert and uphold its brand name and position of a most professional, modern and largest container port operator in Vietnam. In recent years, Saigon Newport Corporation has made long strides in business operations. The brand name "Saigon Newport" actually becomes a big prestigious name in the region and the world. Currently, the corporation is operating many ports in Vietnam, especially Tan Cang - Cai Mep (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) and Tan Cang - Cat Lai (Ho Chi Minh City). Tan Cang- Cat Lai Terminal is now the biggest and most modern international container terminal in Vietnam. It is now capable of receiving vessels of 110,000 tonnes and opening routes to North America and Europe. Tan Cang- Cat Lai is ranked amongst the world’s 40 largest container terminals.
In addition to the above two terminals, Saigon Newport already put into operation Tan Cang - Sa Dec container terminal in Dong Thap province. With the first phase investment capital of VND40 billion (US$2 million), it can handle 6,000 TEUs a month. The facility provides logistics services for waterways connecting neighbouring Cambodia with Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City and Cai Mep (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province). Together with the most modern, synchronous port system in Vietnam, Saigon Newport Corporation also develops interconnected warehouses, ports and water/land transport routes nationwide, making it the only port operator in Vietnam to provide all-inclusive port operation and logistics services for exporters, importers and carriers.
With stronger capacity and better workforce, Saigon Newport confidently moves forward on the path to assert its position and continually reaps important achievements. Taking care of customers’ demand and benefits, the corporation chose 2011 as the Year of Customers with four targets: Polite transactions, kind help, quick delivery, and lower costs. With its customers-oriented strategy, Saigon Newport not only made a difference but also brought convenience and practical benefit to both customers and businesses in 2011. In that year, the corporation was the first port in the country to handle more than 3 million TEUs, up 7.2 percent over 2010, which generated revenues of VND5,762 billion, up 25.1 percent, and profits of VND984 billion, up 1.8 percent. Currently, Saigon Newport is the most modern container terminal in Vietnam, with a market share of over 83 percent in the Ho Chi Minh City area and of nearly 50 percent in the country. Its success in 2011 reasserted its strong position and sustainability and laid the ground for business plans in 2012, with main focus of expanding services, connecting customers, strengthen governance, reduce costs and improve business efficiency."
