The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a solemn ceremony in Hanoi on July 9 to award the Friendship Order of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Mr Ayumi Konishi, Deputy Director General of the Pacific Department of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and ADB’s Former Country Director in Vietnam, for his contribution to the relations of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and ADB during his office term in Vietnam.

 

During his office term as the ADB’s Country Director in Vietnam from April, 2006 to July, 2011, Mr Ayumi Konishi successfully fulfilled his role as a bridge and an important element for the promotion and expansion of the relations of cooperation between ADB and Vietnam. He actively contributed to promoting ADB’s financing resources as well as other mobilised resources for the development of Vietnam, especially poverty reduction in Vietnam’s difficult and remote areas. During his office term, the yearly average amount of ADB’s financing increased from US$1 billion to US$1.3-1.4 billion.
