Hoi An Named among Top 10 Romantic Destinations

The US news station CNN has listed Hoi An city in Vietnam among 10 little-known spots that are equally dreamy.

Buildings and religious architectural works tell the story of the formation and development of the city.

CNN describes Hoi An as the culinary capital of the Vietnam, Hoi An's signature dishes are seldom seen outside of the region, and owe their complexity to centuries of trade in and out of what was one of Southeast Asia's most important ports.

Take Cao Lau. This culinary globetrotter is a textural puzzle of thick rice noodles resting in a light broth, topped with pork, mint, basil, peanuts, lettuce, sprouts and a pile of croutons.

For a foodie couple on a tight budget, there are few places in the world that can pack such a culinary punch at such a low price in such an absorbing environment.

Additionally, visitors to the city can visit coastal eco-resorts and Cu Lao Cham, which was recognised by UNESCO as world natural biosphere reserve in 2003.

Recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999, Hoi An is famous for its old quarter with traditional architecture dating back to between the 17th and 19th century.
