During the 30-year journey of innovation and development, Ninh Thuan's construction industry has obtained encouraging achievements in most fields, especially in urban planning and economic development.

Mr. Nguyen Nhu Nguyen, Deputy Director of Ninh Thuan Department of Construction, said, when it was re-established in 1992, Ninh Thuan was a poor province with a very low starting point of economy and an insufficient, weak infrastructure system. Fortunately, under the close leadership of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, with solidarity, innovation and creativity of all the staff, the construction industry has made a complete makeover in the poor, sunny and windy land, replaced with spacious and modern urban areas, an ideal destination for domestic and foreign investors.

Currently, Ninh Thuan province has one second-grade urban area (Phan Rang - Thap Cham City) and three fifth-grade urban areas, with a universal urbanization rate of 36%. In Phan Rang-Thap Cham City, many urban infrastructure projects continue to be upgraded and improved, especially commercial and apartment, which make Phan Rang - Thap Cham a worthier economic locomotive of the province and this dynamic young city.

In planning, the province has completed and approved the Ninh Thuan Urban Development Program to 2020, with a vision to 2030, Ninh Thuan Housing Development Program to 2030, Ninh Thuan Regional Planning, six district plans; Phan Rang - Thap Cham Master Plan, Urban Development Plan and various detailed plans for implementation of general plans and promptly meet landscape architecture space management requirements and call for investment in infrastructure construction.

Based on approved plans, the province has called for investment in seven urban and residential projects, covering 161.6 ha and costing VND2,250.8 billion, thus ensuring the formation of synchronous urban infrastructure linked to existing urban areas, addressing residential land needs for people and building technical infrastructure. Locally, Phan Rang - Thap Cham City, Tan Son Town (Ninh Son), Phuoc Dan Town (Ninh Phuoc), Phuoc Dai Commune (Bac Ai) and Loi Hai Commune (Thuan Bac) are also making efforts to mobilize resources for urban development as approved by Ninh Thuan Urban Development Program to 2020 and further to 2030 to ensure urban development roadmap and goals of the province.

To speed up urbanization, improve people's quality of life, the investment for completing technical and urban infrastructure is crucial in Ninh Thuan province. In just a short time, many key projects have been completed and put into service, hence giving a new look for its urban space. Typical projects include Ninh Thuan Square - Monument - Museum Complex, Binh Son Marine Park, An Dong Bridge and arterial roads of Phan Rang - Thap Cham City.

According to the resolution of the 14th Provincial Party Congress (2020 - 2025 term), the urban economy will be further developed to account for 75% of the province’s gross domestic product (GDP). Accordingly, in the coming time, Ninh Thuan's construction industry will focus on implementing many solutions to speed up urban economic development, improve the quality of urbanization, urban economy and urban infrastructure. The sector will upgrade constructional quality, from planning, design and construction to space, architecture and landscape management, to form modern and smart cities while preserving and promoting unique cultural identity values.

The sector will also further call for residential and urban investment projects, accelerate urbanization, foster information technology application, and grasping opportunities of Industry 4.0 to develop the modern urban economy, reduce the distance among major cities, ensure environment, green growth and effective response to climate change.
