The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in collaboration with the Vietnam Musician Association officially launched the Songwriting Contest on Vietnamese Entrepreneurs.

Overview of the press conference on “Song for Entrepreneurs” Contest

VCCI President Pham Tan Cong said the competition was aimed to search for a song especially for Vietnamese entrepreneurs and enterprises, to uphold their spirit and build the cultural identity of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the course of carrying out national goals and aspirations, making Vietnam a developed, prosperous and happy country. The song will be sung for official events and other common activities of Vietnamese entrepreneurs and business community.

“This contest is part of the journey to build a Vietnamese business culture in the new period when Vietnam strives to become a prosperous country. In the new development period of the country, the culture is placed on par with the economy. This viewpoint was also stated at the National Cultural Conference in November 2021 and was emphasized by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong,” he said.

The 7th VCCI National Congress in 2021 also determined breakthrough tasks in the 2021-2026 term of VCCI and Vietnamese entrepreneurs: Building Vietnamese entrepreneurial culture and taking entrepreneurial cultural morality as the foundation for the sustainable development of Vietnamese entrepreneurs and enterprises.

The Vietnamese entrepreneur circle has made spectacular development for more than 35 years of reform. In 1986, the Party initiated and led the reform (doi moi). In 1990, the Enterprise Law was introduced and the private economy was opened.  Vietnam had 39,000 enterprises in 2000 but the figure jumped to nearly 1 million by 2022, in addition to more than 29,000 cooperatives and over 5 million business households. Vietnam has about 10 million entrepreneurs who directly lead, manage and run businesses of different economic sectors across the country.

However, according to Mr. Cong, one thing that concerns entrepreneurs is that other classes in society have their songs but this is not the case for Vietnamese entrepreneurs who are great in number and play a very important role in socioeconomic development. The songwriting contest will both meet the aspirations of entrepreneurs and meet the goal of building Vietnamese business ethics and Vietnamese business culture in the new period, in line with Party and State policies on building the cultural value system of Vietnamese people as stated at the National Cultural Conference on implementation of the resolution of the 13th National Party Congress. This activity is also important for VCCI to implement three strategic breakthroughs, which also include building Vietnamese business culture as announced by the 7th VCCI National Congress in 2021.

Musician Do Hong Quan, Chairman of the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Vietnam, said the contest is very meaningful and he calls for all musicians, both professional and amateur, to join the songwriting contest. The “Spirit of Vietnamese entrepreneurs” needs to exude the aura of Vietnamese entrepreneurs along the national history, and move toward the goals and aspirations of building a strong business community and a powerful nation.

The contest will receive contestant applications from March 17, 2023 to July 31, 2023. The organizers announced the rules, formats, principles of voting and other necessary participation conditions.

The top prize is worth VND200 million. Contest results, winners and winning authors will be announced and honored on Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, October 13, 2023, in Hanoi.
