On July 5, 2011, French Ambassador to Vietnam Jean Francois Girault paid a working visit to the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak.
At the meeting, Chairman of Dak Lak People’s Committee Lu Ngoc Cu briefly introduced the province’s cooperation with the French government in the past time. A remarkable project sponsored by the French Development Agency (AFD) is the technical assistance for the operation of Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Trading Centre which cost nearly VND66.6 billion, including a non-refundable grant of VND24.775 billion from AFD. Another notable project is the Vietnamese museum promotion project which cost nearly VND50 billion.
Chairman Cu expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador and the Government of France for their supports and assistances for Dak Lak to carry out projects. French Ambassador Jean Francois Girault showed his please with outcomes of French-financed projects in Dak Lak. He asserted that he would actively search for many other investment sources for Dak Lak province in the coming time.
Chairman Cu hoped France would facilitate Dak Lak province to access other projects and capital sources, support the province to call aids from nongovernmental organisations to treat leprosy patients in Krong Pak, M'Drak and Ea H'leo districts.
