The 2012 Cham Cultural Festival on the theme, ‘Cham Culture – Preservation, Promotion and Integration’, will take place in the central province of Ninh Thuan from October 14-16.

The event will feature Cham ethnic groups from nine provinces and cities including Binh Thuan, Phu Yen, An Giang, Tay Ninh, Ninh Thuan, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City.

The festival will include a series of activities and art performances showcasing traditional Cham customs, food, costumes, folk games and sports.

The main event of this year’s festival will be a workshop on October 16 about preserving and developing the Cham culture.

The annual festival aims to honour the Cham people’s values and cultural identities and provide an opportunity for Cham ethnic minority groups to strengthen their solidarity and exchange experiences in preserving and promoting their culture, sports and tourism potential.

The 2012 Cham Cultural Festival is being co-organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ninh Thuan provincial People's Committee.
