The past years there have been difficulties in power supplying causing certain problems for production and domestic purposes. To address such problems, Vinh Long Power Company has made its efforts to improve and expand electric grid lines, thereby efficiently meeting requirements of provincial socio-economic development.
As of May 2013, Vinh Long Power Company was responsible for management of 1,972 km of medium voltage line; 2,959 low voltage line; capacity of 310 MVA. The commercial electricity saw annual increase of more than 10 percent on average. The volume estimated for 2013 only is approximately 615 million kWH with 201 million kWH implemented in 4 months. So far, the company has sold electricity directly to 244,714 users.
In the past time, Vinh Long’s socio-economic conditions have seen much thriving development, which has led to urgent needs for investment in power gridline for the purpose of provincial industrialization and modernization. Therefore, Vinh Long Power Company has continuously consulted to Vietnam Electricity to reasonably allocate fund for gridline development, guaranteeing the target of safely and stably supplying power to meet demands of production, business and domestic use.
In addition, following the orientation of Provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee, the Company has invested in expansion of power network to rural areas, especially remote regions and given priority to power supply schemes for flood residential clusters under Governmental and provincial direction. With national and foreign loans, Vinh Long Power Company has invested in many key electric schemes in the province with VND 393.6 billion spent on new construction of electricity grid for power supply and gridline expansion to rural area, gradually eliminating integrated electricity meters in the province as required.
Apart from meeting demands for economic development in urban area, Vinh Long Power Company has allocated VND50.27 billion for improvement of provincial gridline to serve Industrial Zones (IZ) and tourism sites in the province. There can be listed some typical schemes such as 22kV Station in Hoa Phu IZ , 22kV medium voltage line crossing the Co Chien river to supply power for four communes in Cu Lao. Moreover, to create preferential conditions for enterprises to make investment in Vinh Long, the company has been preparing plans to supply power for production and business in coming years as well as speed up the supply upon request of enterprises.
For development orientation in future, in order to actively contribute to provincial socio-economic development, Vinh Long Power Company has been under its way to invest and construction some work items such as: newly build Co Chien 110kV Station with capacity of 25 MVA and put into operation in 2014 to serve IZs in Co Chien; speed up progress to operate Hoa Phu 110kV Station by the end of 2013, guarantee power supply for Hoa Phu IZ and balancing support among 110 kV substations in the province; increase capacity of Binh Minh 110 kV Station from 25 MVA to 40 MVA to serve Binh Minh IZ and meet demands for production and business as well as domestic use of local people in Binh Minh township; improve and upgrade 22 kV gridline (in period 2013-2016) to increase quality and power supply reliability with the total fund of VND120 billion.
Director Nguyen Phuoc Nang of Vinh Long Power Company said that to ensure the power supply for provincial socio-economic development in coming time, the company has proposed to Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, Vinh Long Power Supply Steering Committee and relevant agencies to give out direction and support for electricity sector in provincial gridline expansion as well as management of power supply every year. Additionally, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and governmental agencies should be foster communication on exercising Instruction No. 171/CT-TTg by Prime Minister on power saving; thereby helping the businesses, enterprises and households understand and support the fact that power use will benefit themselves and contribute to guarantee national energy security at present and in future.
