The Customs Department of Long An province collected over VND2,958 billion (US$130 million) for the State coffers in the year to October 1, fulfilling 121.24% of the plan of VND2,440 billion assigned by the Ministry of Finance and nearly 80% of the target of VND3,700 billion set by the General Department of Customs. The collected value was 63% higher than the same period of 2018. Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Deputy Director of Long An Customs Department, said that the fiscal revenue collected by the department has been quite favorable since the beginning of the year thanks to increased imports and exports.

Besides, Long An province attracted many new investment projects, including solar power projects, which paid significantly to the State coffers. The cargo throughput at Long An International Port increased from a year earlier and more companies conducted import and export procedures in Long An province, a drive for fiscal revenue expansion.

Specifically, according to the Long An Customs Department, the province had 1,809 companies registering to carry out customs procedures at its customs offices as of September 30, 27% more than a year ago. Import-export value totaled US$10.7 billion, up 4.7% year on year, including US$1.21 billion of taxable commodities (accounting for 11.31% of total value), up 18% from the same period in 2018.
