On July 1, 2025, the Republic of Argentina officially inaugurated its dedicated Agricultural and Industrial Office in Hanoi, marking a strategic step forward in the bilateral economic and trade partnership with Vietnam.

The event was part of an official working visit to Vietnam by a high-level Argentine delegation of government officials and business representatives, taking place from June 30 to July 4. The delegation was led by Esteban Marzorati, Secretary of Industry and Trade at Argentina’s Ministry of Economy, and Agustín Tejeda Rodriguez, Undersecretary for Agricultural Markets and International Integration.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam, Marcos Antonio Bednarski, emphasized that the establishment of the new office was not only a milestone for the Embassy but also of strategic importance to the Argentine government and business community.
“Vietnam is one of the most dynamic economies in the region, with a strategic geographical location, and is currently Argentina’s third-largest trading partner in Asia—after China and India. Globally, Vietnam ranks as our seventh-largest trading partner,” Ambassador Bednarski stated.
Dr. Alonso Pablo Ferran, Head of the newly established Agricultural and Industrial Office in Hanoi, announced that the office would immediately begin implementing a series of business-matching programs, technical support initiatives, and trade promotion activities between the two countries.
The office aims to diversify Argentina’s agricultural and industrial product offerings in the Vietnamese market, while also creating direct communication channels between businesses in both countries.
“In the context of highly volatile global trade, the presence of this office in Vietnam will help strengthen Argentina’s footprint in Southeast Asia—especially in Vietnam, a market with significant growth momentum,” said Dr. Ferran.

VCCI Vice President Nguyễn Quang Vinh
During the delegation’s visit, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), in collaboration with Argentine officials, hosted the “Argentina–Vietnam Business Opportunities” seminar, attracting strong interest from enterprises of both nations.
VCCI Vice President Nguyễn Quang Vinh highlighted that Vietnam and Argentina still have substantial untapped potential for trade cooperation, particularly as both countries share a vision for sustainable development and possess complementary strengths in products and technologies.
“Argentina has significant economic potential in South America, with key strengths in high-tech agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, biotechnology, and software development. The country is also building a dynamic innovation ecosystem, playing a crucial role in its economic transformation,” Vinh said.
He also noted that Vietnam’s open economy, political stability, abundant labor force, and rapid infrastructure modernization are helping position the country as a top destination for foreign investment. In 2024, Vietnam recorded a GDP growth rate of 7.49% and ranked among the top 20 economies in terms of global trade volume. With 17 free trade agreements signed, Vietnam continues to expand its access to international markets efficiently and flexibly.

Argentina and Vietnam have maintained a Comprehensive Partnership since 2010. In 2024, bilateral trade reached USD 4 billion. According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Argentine exports to Vietnam rose by 40.4% from January to April 2025, while Vietnamese exports to Argentina surged by 316% year-on-year. Total bilateral trade increased by 67.1%. Argentina’s exports to Vietnam are mainly agricultural products and raw materials for food processing, while Vietnam is gaining a strong position in industrial goods and high-tech exports.
Amid global economic uncertainties, strengthening cooperation with strategic partners like Argentina not only helps Vietnam diversify its trade markets but also enhances the resilience of its economy against external shocks. Additionally, the partnership fosters green growth, digital transformation, and innovation—key pillars in the sustainable development strategies of both nations.
