Cleverlearn Ho Chi Minh City, Royal Education, and the Vietnam Marketing Association will jointly organize a seminar entitled “Franchise Vietnam 2008” January 19 next year, to heat discussions on the new sector for the Southeast Asian country, state media reported.

Around 200 entrepreneurs and investors, who concern about local and foreign franchise, will take part in the gathering, it noted.

The most prominent matters will be the content and process of franchise, and Vietnam’s franchise environment and potential.

During the seminar, the pioneers in this sector such as Kinh Do group and Cleverlearn will share their experience in doing and receiving franchise.

Franchised businesses first appeared in Vietnam in the 1990s with the advent of high-profile international fast food and beverage chains like KFC.

Vietnam ranked fourth among 30 hottest retail markets worldwide, scoring 74 points in General Retail Development Index (GRDI) 2007, and the market, which has seen annual growth of 20 per cent on average in the recent years, is forecast to continue booming in the next five years.

Total retail sales of goods and services across Vietnam are estimated at VND654.9 trillion (US$41 billion) in the first eleven months this year, an on year increase of 22.9 per cent, said the General Statistics Office (GSO). (Youth)
