Vietnam is estimated to bag US$930 million from apparel exports in July, raising the total figure to US$5.09 billion in the first seven months this year, up 20.5 per cent on-year, the General Statistics Office reported.

In the period, the apparel sector has been facing many difficulties, especially input cost rise, labor shortage and high bank loan interest rate.

Textile and garment exports to foreign markets in general and to the U.S. in particular also face challenges.

Currently, the industry is working hard to reach the set target of US$9.5 billion exports this year, compared with US$7.8 billion last year. (GSO July 2008)
