PetroVietnam Starts Work on Vietnams Biggest Fertilizer Plant
<div>The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Chinese contractors &ndash Wuhuan Engineering Corporation (WEC) and the China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation (CMC) July 26 kicked off construction of the Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant, local media reported. </div>

<div>The plant with total investment of US$900 million will produce around 800,000 tons of fertilizer a year once operational in 2012.</div>

<div>Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant is the largest project in the manufacture of fertilizer that has ever been undertaken. </div>

<div>&ldquoThe plant is of importance to agricultural production, helping stabilize fertilizer prices and ensure national food security, boosting industrialization and modernization,&rdquo Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said at the ground-breaking ceremony.</div>

<div>Dung also asked the investors to do their best to keep the project on schedule and meet safety and quality standards.</div>

<div>The Ca Mau Fertilizer Plant will be built on 52 hectares in U Minh district&rsquos Khanh An commune, southernmost Ca Mau province. It is scheduled for completion in 42 months and is expected to create more than 600 jobs.</div>

<div>General Manager of Petrol Viet Nam, Mr Tran Ngoc Canh said that this project is a part of its large-scale project named &ldquoCa Mau Gas-Power &ndash Fertilizer&rdquo invested by Petrol Viet Nam. (Saigon Liberation, VNA) </div>
