Vietnam to Mobilize US$15 Bln for Urban Railways in Hanoi, HCM City

The Vietnamese Prime Minister has approved a plan to mobilise a total investment of US$15 billion for urban railway projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by 2020, Vietnam News Agency said.
 
Of the sum, over US$7.3 billion will be spent for building seven overhead railways and metro routes in Hanoi, with more than US$5.5 billion mobilized from foreign-invested capital and the rest from domestic sources.
 
Hanoi’s projects include Ngoc Hoi-Yen Vien; Tu Liem-Nam Thang Long-Thuong Đinh; Nam Thang Long-Noi Bai; Nhon-Hanoi station; Hanoi station-Hoang Mai; Hanoi-Ha dong and West Lake’s southern area -Ngoc Khanh-Lang-Hoa Lac routes.
 
Meanwhile, Ho Chi Minh City requires around US$7.5 billion to develop six urban railway projects, including Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien and five metro routes, with foreign capital sources accounting for US$6.3 billion and the domestic ones with US$1.2 billion.
 
The prime minister has asked investors to speed up investment preparation tasks and prioritize mobilisation of ODA and other foreign capital sources for the projects to ensure their implementation pace. (VNA, Youth)
