Private Equity Investors Keen on Vietnam: Grant Thornton

More and more private equity investors are seeking to acquire strategic stakes in Vietnamese companies as part of their investment portfolios, Grant Thornton said in its survey “Private Equity in Vietnam - Investment Sentiment and Outlook” released Nov. 17.
 
Up to 59% of the 200 investors and consultants surveyed have more upbeat outlook about Vietnam’s economy in the next 12 months than they had in April.
 
Sixty seven % of the respondents considered Vietnam as a more attractive investment destination than other countries, Grant Thornton said in its report.
 
Kenneth Atkinson, managing director of Grant Thornton Vietnam, said “The continued growth in the domestic economy during a globally uncertain investment period has shown that the country offers great opportunities for investors than in other nations.”
 
Healthcare, pharmaceuticals and retail were seen as the most attractive sectors for investment in Vietnam.
 
Identifying hurdles in Vietnam, infrastructure was the biggest problem as seen by almost 95% of respondents while 77% of them pointed out difficulty in accessing loans. (chinhphu.vn))
