CTIP - Prolonging the Bridge in International Integration Period
Mr. Huynh Viet Khai, Director of the Ca Mau Trade, Tourism and Investment Centre (CTIP), said: “Promotion is an important solution to express the fellowship with businesses in both favourable times and tough times. In the current context of the global economic crisis, enterprises not only in Ca Mau province but also in the entire country are facing numerous difficulties. However, putting its adverse impacts behind, CTIP takes the crisis as an opportunity to reform and develop…
To realize this objective, since 2008 and especially in the first months 2009, promotion activities have been launched in the largest-ever scale, with 24 events, including 11 in foreign countries and 13 in Vietnam. To date, the centre has completed more than two-thirds of the programme and is expected to finish within the year. With effective and timely supports, businesses in Ca Mau province still managed to keep export markets and expand domestic sales.'
In the first six months of 2009, in spite of numerous difficulties, the export revenue of the province still approximated the value in 2008 with US$238.6 million while the retail revenue climbed 41.2 % year on year. Shrimp, the key export of Ca Mau, has been shipped to major global markets like the US, Japan, the EU, China, South Korea and Australia. Thus, strong and sustainable relations with traditional importers are the top priority, especially in this tough time. At the same time, the province is also seeking to penetrate new markets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa to maintain growth and prepare for the post-crisis development.'
CTIP understands that promotion is a complex activity that requires the vision and skill of performers. According to CTIP, promotion activities help stimulate the demand and expand domestic market and encourage the Vietnamese people to use Vietnamese goods. For its part, the centre will organise general promotion activities for trade, investment and tourism and popularise the image of Vietnamese land and people. “Besides, the good cooperation with participating forces, especially Vietnamese embassies, chambers of commerce and Vietnamese associations, foreign associations and overseas Vietnamese people in target countries will bring very promising effects,” said Mr. Khai.
