Vietnam Southern Province to Host Mid-term CG Meeting 2010

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has agreed to hold the mid-term Consultative Group (CG) Meeting 2010 in Phu Quoc Island of the southern province of Kien Giang on June 10-11.
 
The two-day meeting will be an occasion for the Vietnamese government and international donors to review the implementation of aid commitments at the last year’s CG Meeting and to discuss measures to raise effectiveness of aid.
 
The Ministry of Planning and Investment, the World Bank (WB) and concerned agencies were assigned to organize the meeting. 
 
At the CG Meeting 2009, international donors pledged US$8.063 billion in aid for Vietnam next year, the record high to date.
 
Of the sum, the World Bank pledged US$2.498 billion, Japan with US$1.64 billion, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) with US$1.479 billion and the EU with US$1.082 billion. (chinhphu.vn)
