Vietnam Exports to U.S. Plunge 84.28% to $1.78B in Jan-Feb: Ministry
Vietnam’s exports to the U.S. tumbled 84.28% from a year earlier to $1.785 billion in the first two months of this year, including $768.4 million in February, down 23.65% on-month.
Apparel remained Vietnam’s biggest cash earner with $819.85 million, down 83.59%, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The country’s other export staples also reported on-year value falls such as woodwork products with $171.65 million, down 84.4%, footwear with $160.9 million, down 84.5% and seafood with $93.76 million, down 86.82%.
Vietnam’s imports from the U.S. surged 66.44% to $465.3 million in Jan-Feb, resulting in the country’s trade surplus of nearly $1.32 billion, the MoIT noted.
The Southeast Asian nation is forecast to export $12.4 billion worth of goods to the U.S. in 2010, up 10.71% from a year earlier. (Vinanet)
