Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2010 and NEPCON Vietnam 2010 organized on May 20-22 in Hanoi ended successfully, opening many great opportunities for Vietnamese manufacturers to access new technologies and world-class suppliers of industrial parts and electronic products to meet the country’s demand.
The two exhibitions were located at the same time and place, creating the most comprehensive manufacturing event in Vietnam for the five manufacturing sectors of plastics and rubber, mold and die, auto parts, automation and assembly technologies, and electronic parts. This synchronization of multiple sectors provided the maximum benefit to all participants, remarked Ms. Nichapa Yoswee, Managing Director of Reed Tradex Company, the event’s organizer.
The successful show warmly welcomed a total of 7,863 manufacturing industrialists from across Vietnam and 20 other countries, including Australia, China, Japan, Korea, and the US, who were exposed to over 450 global brands from 20 countries. They expressed satisfaction that they had found the new technologies and knowledge they were looking for, in the exhibitions and special features such as the “HI-TECH & Robot Zone,” as well as the seminars and technology presentations, and had established the business networks needed for their business growth.
Mr Nguyen Thanh Bien, Trade and Industry Vice Minister, said that even though the direction of the global economic situation is still not clear, Vietnamese industrialists have not stopped improving themselves. This is the time to take steps to gain the technologies and experiences needed to survive and resurface once the economy bounces back. This is a good opportunity for all Vietnamese businessmen and industrialists to update their knowledge and technology for the current industrial and economic situation in Vietnam. “Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2010 and NEPCON Vietnam 2010 is a knowledge platform to bring the world of machine tools and metalworking technologies to the industrialists. Vietnamese businessmen and manufacturers must not miss this opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal look at the newest innovations to upgrade production technology and business opportunities,” remarked Mr Bien.
With positive feedback from visitors, exhibitors expressed strong confidence and requested immediate exhibit space for the upcoming edition, up to 80% of the total area.
Vietnam Business Forum would like to introduce ideas of experts about the shows:
Mr Chanin Khaochan, Director of BOI Unit for Industrial Linkage Development (BUILD), the Board of Investment of Thailand
In the context of the global economic centre gradually moving to Asia, competitiveness and investment in this region is becoming more comprehensive, especially in the ASEAN region. However, ASEAN economies have not been strong and competitive enough to compete in the global market. ASEAN countries should share resources and strengths with production units to become a single market of the ASEAN economic community, with total population of over 566 million.
At the exhibition’s Thailand pavilion, besides showcasing mold & die technology, and subcontracting and machinery services, Vietnamese partners will get a chance to develop win-win opportunities with Thai technology providers to source the best technologies to serve your industrial requirements.
I am delighted to take part in this show with the hope that both Vietnamese and Thai manufacturers will work together, with similar cultures and favourable geographic conditions, and create value chains to churn out high quality, low cost products not only to the Vietnamese market, but also the global market.
BUILD is responsible for investment promotion and supporting Thai companies to boost business cooperation, therefore, we are ready to cooperate with Vietnamese organizations, especially Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), to organize bilateral trade and investment promotion events to help enterprises of the two countries further develop.
Mr Ronnie Wong, President of Association of Electronic Industries in Singapore
Our association has 120 member companies, but only 15 members participated in NEPCON Vietnam 2010, because the recent exhibition in Australia was too close to this show and they did not have enough time to prepare and ship display products to Vietnam. Singaporean companies have been busy with so many shows at the same time, such as in Australia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
Singaporean companies view Vietnam as the most important market right now. In terms of their participation, Vietnam is number one. More Singaporean companies will come to Vietnam because the country’s industrial growth is significant compared to Thailand and the Philippines. Many Singaporean companies have already been in Vietnam for a long time and many others are looking for business expansion in Vietnam at this time.
The Singaporean exhibitors at this show supply a wide range of products and services such as machinery, equipment, components and accessories, from small items to large-scale machinery, which are very useful for Vietnam’s supporting industries. It is good for Vietnamese to visit the Singapore pavilion. I hope we can help more Singapore companies come to Vietnam for next year’s show, around 20 or 30 companies, or maybe at Metalex Vietnam in October in Ho Chi Minh City.
I see significant growth in Vietnam’s economy in a long period of time, from every sector, such as industry and real estate. Every investment project has high profits over a long time and the Vietnamese market has great potential for Singapore companies.
Mr Viroj Sirithanasart, President of Thai Tool and Die Industry Association
In my visit to Vietnam in 2008, I was advised by a Japanese expert that there were lots of opportunities to develop supporting industries in Vietnam. Many global corporations from Japan have set up factories in Vietnam, so they prefer to have local suppliers of components and spare parts made in Vietnam instead of using imports, to reduce production costs. However, Vietnamese manufacturers have not yet met the high demand.
Recognizing the mold and die industry growth and the rising industrial production needs in Vietnam, we decided to attend Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2010 with our principle objectives of lending a hand with industrial upgrades and increasing cooperation with key manufacturers worldwide. We value the opportunity to increase competitiveness by utilizing collective resources, and by implementing effective strategies to ally with international producers.
We believe that the exhibition will continue its role as a motivating force for the mold making and industrial parts manufacturing communities in Vietnam, particularly encouraging industrialists to exploit the innovations on display and use the venue for networking with colleagues and business partners.
