VietPower: 1st Conference to Uncover Results of MOIT’s Power Development Master Plan VII

3:02:29 PM | 9/27/2010

Asia’s 2nd Annual VietPower Conference will take place on September 27th-30th in Hanoi, and is considered the first commercial conference to be held after the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Power Development Master Plan VII, or PDP 7, will have seen its first draft and the results of it will need to be honestly and practically discussed.

The large-scale event is organized by IBC Asia, part of the Informa Group, the world’s leading international provider of specialist information and services for the academic and scientific, professional and commercial business communities.

Vietnam is necessarily commissioning more and more power projects to add electricity to the grid in the next few years as it becomes one of Asia’s fastest developing economies. AES and Vietnam National Coal Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) just signed off the first BOT (Build Operate Transfer) power project since Phu My 3 in 2001, marking a new age of foreign sector investment into Vietnamese infrastructure. The results of MOIT’s Master Plan VII will play a big role in deciding exactly how Vietnam’s power sector will be expanded, and this conference is the first commercial forum where that will be discussed.

VietPower will have an extensive marketing campaign targeting regional government, power companies, law firms, financiers, EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) companies, power grid operators, coal producers and commodity traders as well as technology providers to discuss and capitalize upon investment opportunities opening up across Vietnam. Geographically this campaign will focus on Southeast Asia, predominantly Vietnam, and also looking to attract international investors from the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and North Asia.

Hot topics of Vietnam’s power industry will be addressed by many local and international experts, including Mr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Chairman of PetroVietnam Power Corp., Phan Minh Tuan, Director, Nuclear Power and Renewable Energy Projects Pre-Investment Board (NRPB) of EVN, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of Institute of Energy, Dinh Quang Trung, General Manager of Import/ Export Division, Vinacomin, Nguyen Tuong Khanh, Project Head, Wind Energy Project of MOIT, Angelika Wasielke – Project Head, Wind Energy Project, Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in Vietnam, Joel Laykin, Secretary General, Independent Power Producers Forum, Yongping Zhai, Principal Energy Specialist of ADB, Yoichiiro Robert Yoi, Deputy Division Chief, Project Finance, Asia and Oceania Finance Dept., Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and others.
