“As a military-run enterprise leading in seaport construction and operation, corporate culture and military principles, I very much believe that  Saigon New Port Holding Company will raise the development of port logistics services to regional and international levels,” said Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai at an opening ceremony of Tan Cang - Cai Mep deepwater seaport, the largest of its kind in Vietnam.
In the past years, Saigon Newport has made robust progress and “Saigon Newport” has become a trusted brand in the region and the world. Currently, the corporation is operating the two largest container terminals in Vietnam, namely Tan Cang - Cai Mep Terminal in southern Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, and Tan Cang - Cat Lai Terminal in Ho Chi Minh City. Tan Cang - Cai Mep now handles 11,000-tonne vessels with direct service from Vietnam to the United States and Europe without having to dock in third countries. Tan Cang Cat Lai Terminal is now one of the 40 largest container terminals in the world. In 2010, cargo throughput at ports operated by Saigon Newport totalled 2.8 million TEUs, equivalent to 37 million tonnes of cargo, accounting for more than 80 percent of the market share in the Ho Chi Minh City region and nearly 50 percent in the country. The corporation had high annual cargo throughput growth of 32 percent in 2006 - 2010. Recently, it started operating Tan Cang - Sa Dec Terminal in Dong Thap province with a monthly capacity of 6,000 TEUs.

To obtain these results, apart from objective factors like general economic changes following Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the key to the success of Saigon Newport is the calibre and quality of navy characterised by resilience, consistency in all difficult and challenging circumstances, and efforts for a better life together with sound strategies and steps (business strategy, marketing strategy, market research, etc.), and good policies on integration, equitisation, technology selection and investment. All these factors are behind the current success of Saigon Newport.

In addition to national defence tasks, Saigon Newport centrally focuses on seaport operation to expand facilities and services, connect and support the development of operations of Tan Cang Saigon terminals. Together with developing operations in existing terminals, the corporation gradually expands operations with new projects like Lach Huyen port complex (Hai Phong), Thi Nai Port (Qui Nhon ) and port projects in Dong Thap, and step by step increase its regional and global presence, with the first foreign terminals expected in Cambodia and Myanmar.

Regarding corporate culture construction and social and charitable activities of Saigon Newport, Mr Tran Khanh Hoang, Vice President of Saigon Newport, said: Corporate culture construction has contributed to sustainable brand development and continuous development over the years. With measures to enhance the value of traditional culture, the corporation has organised many activities to educate and raise awareness of employees and nourish pride and a sense of responsibility. Our slogan is "Come to Saigon Newport, Come to Best Quality Services." We not only focus on production, business and branding, but we also build corporate culture to strengthen internal unity, promote responsibility in customer service, and uphold the personal pride of each employee which is the beauty of the Tan Cang brand.

Each year, Saigon Newport spends about VND20 billion (US$1 million) on social and charity activities. This shows the unity and closeness of the corporation’s staff.

Concerning cooperation with foreign investors, Mr Tran Khanh Hoang added that Saigon Newport will boost investment into river ports, real estate and other businesses and services. We expect to cooperate with big international investors.
