Chevron-led Block B Gas-to-Power Project, NFVC Jointly Launch Access to Education Initiative

The Chevron-operated Block B Gas-to-Power Project today announced an agreement with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC) to support school upgrades and provide scholarships to more than 800 schoolchildren in the Mekong Delta region.

 

The US$150,000 commitment builds on the existing Block B Gas-to-Power Project education programme that has already provided scholarships to more than 3,000 children in the Mekong Delta since 2009. The Block B project partners, Chevron Vietnam Ltd., PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd. (MOECO), and PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP), have also supported the work to upgrade 14 schools in the past three years.

 

In addition to the scholarships, the 2013 programme will include work to upgrade four additional schools in Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Bac Lieu and Hau Giang and continue support for new Phuoc Thoi kindergarten facilities in O Mon district of Can Tho this year.
