Set up in 1955, after 58 years of construction and development, Region 3 Petrolimex Company (Petrolimex Hai Phong) always tries its best to overcome difficulties and challenges to ensure sufficient supply of petroleum products for social and economic development, guaranteeing national security and defence, and meeting consumer demand in Hai Phong City.
The international integration process has opened up many opportunities for Vietnam’s economic development but it also poses huge risks and challenges to the economy because of easy vulnerability to economic and financial crises, price fluctuations and fierce competition among domestic and foreign enterprises. However, with its modern technical facilities and highly qualified, professional, enthusiastic and determined staffs, Petrolimex Hai Phong is always the biggest taxpayer in Hai Phong City and fulfils social roles and responsibilities.
To date, Petrolimex Hai Phong is running a network of 55 filling stations stores across the northern port city of Hai Phong. Besides, the company has established and maintained relations with more than 1,000 outlet agents, industrial consumers, wholesalers and retailers to supply enough petroleum products to all consumers both in the mainland and on islands. Hence, the company always fulfils its missions of ensuring social security in the city and deserves its roles as the first foundation of Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (Petrolimex) today.
Moreover, the company pays special attention to supplying sufficient petroleum products for big consumers like industrial companies, transport firms, steelmakers, power firms, paper makers, cement producers, chemical producers, footwear manufacturers, glass makers, feed processors, shipping companies and industrial parks like Nomura and Dinh Vu. With its efforts to expand the market, perfecting operating mechanisms and sales policies, enhance marketing, improve after-sales services, and consult on related products and services, the company always maintains stable growth year after year and protect legitimate rights of employees.
Beside petroleum products, the company actively expands its business operations to petrochemical and other products and services to increase jobs and incomes for employees. As a result, service revenue contributes up to 37-40 percent of the company's revenue.
Mr Tran Minh Duc, Chairman and Director of Petrolimex Hai Phong, said that the market mechanism requires every company to calculate and weigh up pros and cons to find out most effective solutions. But, for Petrolimex Hai Phong, the company always gives top priority to its major mission of ensuring petroleum supply in the city although it will earn humble or zero profit due to world oil price fluctuations. Cat Hai is a very typical example for the company’s society-centred business service because Petrolimex is the only fuel company to bring petroleum products to Cat Hai district although it knows that no profit can be made from this let alone a loss. But, being fully aware of its corporate social responsibility, the company disregards short-term profits to serve islanders in Cat Hai.
Specially, Petrolimex Hai Phong always sets stores by absolute safety and security issues to prevent any human and property damage and build a green, clean surrounding environment. The company is applying a new brand identity system to increase the Petrolimex impression, create identity and affirm customer service quality.
Currently, the firm has applied the SAP - ERP software system to replace the old business management software, POSM, to better internal control and enhance business performance efficiency. In addition, the company has developed many new applications, including electronic office solutions, billing software, the company’s website (kv3.petrolimex.com.vn), and online buying registration software. In particular, Petrolimex Hai Phong accepted Flexicad cards, an instrument to buy gasoline without having to pay cash developed by Petrolimex Corporation.
Perhaps, applying modern science, techniques and technologies to petroleum business is a new task in Vietnam but it brings in great efficiency to ensure the quantity and quality of products, save costs for enterprises and protect the rights and interests of consumers.
The road ahead is full of difficulties and challenges but the company strongly believes that, with great determination and tremendous endeavour of the entire staff plus right investment and business strategies together advanced facilities, Petrolimex Hai Phong will continue to develop to better meet consumer needs and perform corporate social responsibility.
