Viet Nam and Pakistan should work together to further lift up the two-way trade value from the current US$500, said Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh while receiving Pakistani Deputy FM Amjad Hussain B.Sial in Ha Noi on August 19.
Deputy PM, FM Minh also spoke highly of the outcomes of the first political consultation held the same day between the two foreign ministries.
Mr Amjad Hussain B.Sial affirmed that Pakistan expects to strengthen cooperation with Viet Nam as well as mutual support at regional and international forums for the benefits of peace, stability, cooperation and development in Asia.
During the first political consultation, the two sides expressed their pleasure at the positive developments of the bilateral ties.
They agreed on a number of measures to boost bilateral cooperation in such fields like politics, security and defense, economy and trade, agriculture, culture and tourism.
Pakistan called on Vietnamese businesses to invest in banking, energy, garment, oil and gas, and footwear.
The Pakistani diplomat also hoped that Viet Nam would open air routes to Islamabad as a measure to accelerate trade and tourism linkages.
Regarding regional and international issues of common concern, the two countries unanimously said that peace and stability are the prerequisite conditions for cooperation and development.
The Pakistani side voiced support for relevant parties’ efforts to maintain peace, stability, security and safety of navigation in the East Sea. All disputes must be settled through peaceful measures without using force or threatening to use force.
Pakistan also welcomed strict compliance with the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and basic principles of international law and encouraged parties to work towards early conclusion of a Code of Conduct in the East Sea.
