Mr Shang Liguang, Party Chief of China Cangzhou municipal introduced Cangzhou, second highest growing economy of Hebei Province of China at a seminar titled China Cangzhou (Vietnam) Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion held on December 4 in Hilton Opera Hanoi.
Cangzhou is located in Southeast Hebei province, and covers an area of 14,000 square kilometres with a population of 7.6 million. Cangzhou is an ancient city with a long history of culture. It is homes of Wushu (Martial Arts), acrobatics, pipes and foundry, golden-thread jujubea, and Ya pears. In 2014, the GDP of Cangzhou was 313.3 billion RMB yuan (US$49.7 billion).
Cangzhou is also an open coastal city, enjoying opportunities brought by various national strategies including Coordinated Development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, One Belt and One Road, and Bohai Sea Surrounding Regions Cooperation. There are 7 railways and 7 highways connected with Cangzhou. It takes only 51 minutes to Beijing and 22 minutes to Tianjin. Its own port Huanghua can berth ships with 200,000 tonnage. There are 37,000 hectares of cultivable land and 147,000 hectares of unused land on the coast, forming treasure land for coastal industries.
Pipe and fitting industry is the dominant industry of Cangzhou. Totally there are 3,459 pipe and fitting manufacturers with 136,000 employees. Cangzhou is known as the Pipe and Fitting Manufacturing Base of China, Pipe and Fitting Exporting Base of China, and Capital of Pipes and Elbows of China. Cooperated with universities and scientific research institutes including Tsinghua University and Harbin Institute of Technology, factories in Cangzhou can design and produce 16 classes, 370 varieties and 3,500 kinds of steel pipes, elbows, flanges and fittings, which are widely used in fields of power, petro-chem, civil works, ship building, aviation, coal mines, military industries, etc. The pipes and fittings made in Cangzhou accounts about 60 percent in China and are exported to more than 90 countries and regions of the world. Xinzhonglian Special Steel Tube Co., Ltd. produces rectangular pipe in the largest scale domestically and it is unique producer of pipes for upgrade shipbuilding and new guardrail pile in China.
