Belgium Commits €3 Mln in Support for Vietnam Local Governance
Belgium has committed €3 million of ODA grant for supporting the local governance in Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Kon Tum provinces, as stated in three specific agreements signed by Vietnam and Belgium for the “Support for Responsive Accountable Local Governance” (RALG) projects in Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Kon Tum provinces.
Immediate beneficiaries of the projects include : (i) People Committees and People Councils at the provincial, district and commune levels, participating line agencies (including Home Affairs, Planning and Investment, Justice, Finance etc..) who will benefit from the technical assistance and capacity building support provided under the projects, (ii) The Vietnamese Fatherland Front members and members of mass organizations at the provincial, district and commune levels who will benefit from organizational development and capacity building support which will enable them to better perform their core functions and (iii) the citizens of selected communes /districts where the projects will be implemented.
The grant of € 3 million from the Belgian Government is divided equally between Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Kon Tum provinces. The People’s Committees of the three provinces are responsible to implement these projects over three years.
