Under the glory of entrepreneurs in the country, many are called with much respect like “king”, “tycoon” or “lady boss.” But, for the family of labour hero and entrepreneur Le Van Kiem and entrepreneur Tran Cam Nhung, they are not only known for their success in business but are also known as exemplars for the concept of overcoming hardship. They have impressed everyone with the image of a compassionate, enthusiastic and community-supported family.
On the path to his current success, veteran, labour hero Le Van Kiem, President of the Board of Directors of Long Thanh Golf Investment and Trading Joint Stock Company based in Dong Nai province, there is always the close companionship of his wife, entrepreneur Tran Cam Nhung, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Long Thanh Golf. She is not only energetic, dynamic and talented in business but also compassionate and sociable to the community, especially to the poor.
She was born to a revolutionary family in central Vietnam. She was sent to study at a school for southerners in the north by the Party and the State. With that luck, she had a solid foundation of knowledge, a strong desire to confront and overcome difficulties in doing business. She was always determined and eager to get riches for her own and to enrich the country.
Living and doing business in a peaceful and unified country today, she always remembers the sacrifice of sweat and blood of many forerunner generations. She said, “My husband, my children and I always have the same thoughts. The best exercise for the heart is to give our helping hands to the community.” Her family has donated over VND728 billion to the community. For her part, she shared over VND40 billion with the poor from 2011 to 2016, including over VND10 billion for the needy in Dong Nai province. She believed that “Giving is receiving. What I get is joys and the society has fewer miseries.”
Ms Bui Thi Lieu, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee, said, the province still has many poor families and policy-benefiting families. Upon any request for help, Ms Nhung is always ready and willing to help. We have more fund to help the needy because of her. Those noble hearts really touch our hearts.
In her seventies, Ms Nhung does not want to rest. She explained that “When getting older, we have to try more, live and work as exemplars for others to follow and contribute more to the society.” Wherever there is help needed, there is her presence. Her respectful deeds made the community more beautiful in 2016. For example, she donated VND6.5 billion to the 27-7 Comradeship Fund of the Central Vietnam Veterans Fund to build charitable houses; gave VND1 billion to families of 10 pilots sacrificed in the crash of SU-30MK2 and CASA-212 airplanes. Recently, she handed VND1 billion to the "Study Promotion Fund" of Dong Nai province and up to VND25 billion to the Milk at School Programme.
She also financially supported the Navy Command to buy eight cars and Navy Command Area 4 to purchase three patrol cars at a total value of over VND11 billion.
Long Thanh Golf Company now has over 2,000 employees who always see the company as a common home because they feel warm love and passionate sharing from Ms Nhung. Many potential employees are sent to study in foreign countries. In spite of being a private company, the company has effectively operating Party cells, trade unions and youth unions.
As a talented woman, a successful and compassionate entrepreneur, Tran Cam Nhung is however modest despite her contributions to the country and society. Her family’s business experienced repeated ups and downs. Sometimes, her family had to sell all the property and borrow a lot of money to save the business. They even thought that they could not jump out of the troubled water. But, their vigour and competence gradually drove her business out of hardship to obtain the today success and glory. “The society still needs more help and I want to do more good things for it,” she said.
Remarking on the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the global integration time, Tran Cam Nhung said Resolution 09-NQ/TW of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the period of accelerating industrialisation, modernisation and international integration has made clear. Accordingly, an entrepreneur must have a good heart and a far vision and the vision is competence to run a business, use knowledge, instruments and bravery to overcome this tough time. Therefore, entrepreneurs must be firmer and more confident in running business, get legitimate riches for their own and contribute to national development as said by former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh “Vietnamese enterprises and entrepreneurs are the ones who enrich the nation”.
With her contributions to the country and society, Ms Nhung has been presented a lot of noble awards by the State of Vietnam such as the Third-class Labour Order (2009), the Order of Solidarity (2010) and the Second-class War Resistance Order (2010), Second-class Labour Order (2011). She has been also bestowed many orders from the State of Laos like the Third and Second-class Labour Orders, Second-class Military Feat Order (2010), the National Development Order (2009), Second and Third Freedom Order and from the Kingdom of Cambodia like the Friendship Order (2011).
