Construction on Phu My 3 Logistics Centre was started at Phu My 3 Specialised Industrial Park, Phu My Town, on July 19. The project was jointly developed by Vina - Japan Shirogane Logistics Company (VJS) - a joint venture between Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company and Shirogane Transport Co., Ltd of Japan.
The 2.25-ha Phu My 3 Logistics Centre, costing US$5.4 million in total, consists of general warehouses, cold storage, cool storage, 24/7 surveillance camera system, standard fire protection system and container yards, among other facilities. Notably, the project has eight container entry points to meet a variety of cargo handling needs. In addition, the warehouse has a shelving system and flat floor areas to store various goods. Currently VJS is making every effort to ensure the progress to bring it into operation in April 2019.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Mr Nguyen Thanh Long, Vice Chairman of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial People’s Committee, said that, in the southern key economic zone, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province holds the advantage of deep-water port, industrial development and tourism, in addition to modern and synchronous transportation infrastructure to lay the groundwork for drawing more investors and engaging more resources for socioeconomic development. In order to take the maximum advantage of locally available advantages to realise the goal of making Ba Ria - Vung Tau a strong industrial, seaport, port logistics and tourism province, one of its investment attraction approaches is to draw various forms of service economy, taking the port system and port logistics services as the main task where priority is given to logistics services. Confirming that Phu My 3 Logistics Centre is the first logistics project using Japanese technology and experience of operation and management in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, he expressed his hope that the project will become one of the key logistics centres in the province, positively help develop and improve local logistics services, as well as raise the performance of Cai Mep - Thi Vai port complex in the future.
Ms Nguyen Thi Thao Nhi, President and CEO of Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company and President of VJS, said that Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company and Shirogane Transport Co., Ltd cooperated in building Phu My 3 Logistics Centre in an attempt to bring best logistics services for business operations, optimise production costs and generate added values for investors. Accordingly, the centre will focus on developing integrated logistics services based on modern, efficient and professional supply chains, including freight agency, warehousing and yard, customs clearance, freight packaging and labelling services, as well as other auxiliary services to meet domestic distribution and export requirements of tenants in Phu My 3 Industrial Park, exporters and importers in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, as well as neighbouring localities. “Given its importance and essentiality, we believe that, after a period of stable operation and delivery of best services for customers, Phu My 3 Logistics Centre will be further developed and expanded with second and third warehouses to give a helping hand for Ba Ria - Vung Tau to become a national and regional centre of logistics services,” she said.
VJS General Director Tatsuya Ito said that the advantage of Phu My 3 Logistics Centre lies in its prime location. It is situated in Phu My 3 Specialised Industrial Park, 2 km from Thi Vai - Cai Mep deep-water port, well-connected with National Highway 51A, National Highway 1A, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Ho Chi Minh City - Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, and Tan Son Nhat Airport and Long Thanh International Airport. Combined with its perfectly strategic location and VJS’s professional management experience in logistics supply services, Phu My 3 Logistics Centre is expected to help raise the performance of Thi Vai - Cai Mep deep-water port; boost the development of seaport economy, trade and investment in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in particular, in the Southern Key Economic Zone as a whole and promote trade and transportation with other countries and territories in the world, he said.
