Chubb Organizes ‘Regional Day of Service’ in Vietnam to Support Local Educational Needs

Chubb’s life and general insurance operations in Vietnam, namely Chubb Life Insurance Vietnam Company Ltd. (“Chubb Life in Vietnam”) and Chubb Insurance Vietnam Co., Ltd. (“Chubb Insurance in Vietnam”), jointly held their ‘Day of Service’ at the Thanh An Primary School (Can Gio District, Ho Chi Minh City) recently.

Chubb is committed to supporting local communities in which its employees live and work. Since 2012, the ‘Day of Service’ has been the annual event for Chubb’s employees across 11 Asia Pacific markets, where employees dedicate their time to various local community projects during a designated week of the year. This year, our regional ‘Day of Service’ activities focus on increasing educational opportunities for underprivileged students.

A team of staff volunteers from both companies visited Thanh An Primary School, donated school equipment and presented 100 cash grants to underprivileged students. The school, situated in the impoverished Thanh An commune, Can Gio District, has two campuses with a total of 350 students. Over 40 percent of its students come from low-income families working in the fisheries and aquaculture sector. For years, the school board has tried to actively encourage and support those students so that they continue going to school.

Other than donating equipment and presenting grants, Chubb volunteers also guided and supported the students to create “green corners” around the school, decorated classroom corridors and redevelop the campus garden with plants. In addition, the volunteers and students participated in fun-filled sports competitions, engaged in exciting sports games together.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lam Hai Tuan, Chairman and Country President of Chubb Life in Vietnam, and Mr. Dang Hoang Tung, Country President & General Director of Chubb Insurance in Vietnam, said: “The financial support from our company and the volunteerism spirit from all the team members show that striving to improve the quality of life in local communities is one of the important aspects of Chubb’s corporate social responsibility. We believe that the collective effort of all Chubb's members will make a difference and contribute to a better world.”
