The Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Program 2022 is a task carried out by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) in response to Resolution 09 of the Politburo on building and promoting the role of Vietnamese entrepreneurs in the course of accelerating industrialization, modernization and international integration.

This is the eighth edition and so far 800 entrepreneurs have been honored and awarded the title, which raised social awareness of the role and importance of entrepreneurs. Named entrepreneurs have made many contributions to the country's economic development, become shining examples for next entrepreneurs and helped build a strong force of Vietnamese entrepreneurs.

At the meeting of the Steering Committee for the 2022 Program for Voting and Reviewing Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneurs, which took place recently in Hanoi, VCCI President Pham Tan Cong said that the program is held after the 7th VCCI Congress with many new contents regarding business and entrepreneur work. The congress put forth three breakthrough actions of building a business environment, business culture and digital transformation. Particularly, the business culture is coupled with the entrepreneurial ethics culture. Therefore, the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur" this year is reportedly linked to building entrepreneurial ethics culture.

This year's program has certain changes, including a decrease in named entrepreneurs (from 100 to 60) but an increase in quality, he said. Selection criteria are built scientifically, together with business ethics standard - an important criterion. The review process is not based on records but via direct appraisal and interviews of candidates.

With a strict process to ensure publicity, transparency and fairness, the Organizing Committee hopes that "Outstanding Vietnamese entrepreneurs" will become a national title - a noble title honored in the business community; spread a new entrepreneurial spirit, starting with entrepreneurial ethics and moving to business culture in the coming years.

According to Mr. Nguyen Bac Ha, Director of VCCI Membership and Training Committee, Chief Secretary of the Program Council, after the launching ceremony (July 30, 2022), VCCI sent documents to 98 lead units to nominate candidates, including 63 Provincial/Municipal People's Committees, 10 ministries and relevant agencies, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, 21 major industry associations and press agencies. As of September 14, the Secretariat received 161 nominations from 41 lead agencies and received 120 applications.

This year, although there are many new requirements, entrepreneurs and nominees have carefully studied documents and instructions and they, therefore, should build a very good and professional profile, he said. Many high-profile candidates are successful entrepreneurs whose companies are industry leaders in Vietnam. Nomination fields include most economic sectors, ranging from production to trade and services, finance - banking, construction, agriculture - forestry - fishery. In particular, there are many outstanding faces in manufacturing and processing industries.

Based on received documents, the Secretariat qualifies candidate profiles and completes instructions and documents for direct appraisal at enterprises in the coming time. As expected, the program to grant the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur" 2022 is scheduled for October 12.
