Phu Tho People’s Committee Chairman Tran Duy Dong reported on the progress of three major projects at the meeting of the National Steering Committee for Important National Projects, affirming the province’s determination to complete them by December 19, 2025, to improve national transport connectivity.

On November 8, 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the National Steering Committee for Important Transport Projects, chaired the 21st session, held online with 26 provinces and cities implementing major projects. At Phu Tho’s interface, Chairman Tran Duy Dong, Vice Chairman Quach Tat Liem, and leaders of relevant departments attended.

According to the Ministry of Construction, after the 20th meeting on September 10, 2025, the Prime Minister assigned 30 tasks to ministries, sectors, and localities to address obstacles and speed up investment procedures so projects can be inaugurated by December 19. To further accelerate progress, the Prime Minister added three new projects to the portfolio of Steering Committee: the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, Gia Binh International Airport, and Can Tho 2 Bridge.

At the meeting, Phu Tho People’s Committee Chairman Tran Duy Dong reported that the province currently has three key projects under the supervision of the Steering Committee: the Hoa Binh-Moc Chau Expressway, divided into four packages with 20 active construction sites operating on strict schedules; the Hoa Binh-Moc Chau Expressway, in the investment preparation stage with design and site clearance progressing as regulated; and the Hoa Lac-Hoa Binh Road with upgrades to National Route 6 from Xuan Mai to Hoa Binh under a public-private partnership, now being expanded to expressway standards to improve traffic flow and regional connectivity. He said that Phu Tho is mobilizing all resources to ensure project progress, quality, and safety while supporting contractors, maintaining environmental hygiene, preventing labor accidents, and ensuring steady construction.

In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged the efforts of localities, including Phu Tho, and praised the determination of project implementers. He instructed ministries, sectors, localities, investors, and contractors to resolve legal issues, invest in equipment, mobilize personnel, and secure sufficient resources to complete the projects ahead of schedule.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also directed strict compliance with decentralization policies, emphasizing “local decision, local execution, local accountability”; reducing unnecessary administrative procedures for citizens and businesses; and clearly assigning responsibilities, while ensuring adequate resources for implementation.

He stressed that project investors must ensure construction quality, environmental hygiene, and labor safety, strictly follow technological standards, and use approved materials. The 2025 priority goals include completing 3,000 kilometers of expressways connecting Cao Bang to Ca Mau, over 1,700 kilometers of coastal roads, and essentially completing Long Thanh International Airport.

Phu Tho’s key projects will enhance transport capacity, reduce logistics costs, attract investment, promote socio-economic growth, and strengthen the province’s role in the national infrastructure strategy. Tran Duy Dong affirmed that the province will closely follow the Prime Minister’s guidance and work with ministries, sectors, and contractors to put these projects into operation for the benefit of citizens and the economy.
