With the purpose of creating conditions for domestic and international tourism and travel firms to meet and share business opportunities, the Hotel Department and the Tourism Promotion Department under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, and the GFC Communication and International Trade Fair Company, jointly organised Tourism and Camping Asia (TCA’07) from April 20-24, 2007 at Giang Vo Exhibition Centre, Hanoi.
This is the first time Tourism and Camping Asia is opened in Hanoi. Unlike other trade fairs and exhibitions, TCA fairs are professionally organised from the preparatory steps, reception and attendance of visitors. According to Ms Angela Mai, Project Director of GFC Communication and International Trade Fair Company, the five-day trade fair is professionally arranged to facilitate visitors and companies having the quickest access to their areas of interest. The organising board has divided the exhibition area into two sections: one for travel and tourism units to meet each other, and one for direct sales of tourism packages for organisations, families and individuals to find suitable summer tours.
TCA is a destination for embassies, chambers of economy and commerce, tourist firms from various nations, international organisations, tourism associations, tourism departments of various Vietnamese provinces and cities, recreational companies, operators of hotels, restaurants, golf courses and resorts, tour operators, transport companies, airlines, railways, equipment suppliers and others. Especially, the fair is attended by Vietnamese and international leading companies like Vietnam Airlines, Hoang An Gia Lai Group, AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Genting, Sandy Beach Resort, Van Chai Resort, Ati Resort, ASEAN Resort, Hoang Ngoc Resort, Viettravel, TransViet, Visasie Travel and Torserco. Thai Nguyen Province, the partner of TCA, is also present at the TCA.
TCA 07 coincides with the Food and Hotel Expo 2007 (FHE’07), which display products, equipment and services for restaurants and hotels. The trade fair will create favourable conditions for hotel, restaurant and recreational companies to approach and select the best equipment and products for their businesses.
Ms Jennifer Chua, Market Manager in Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar of Travelocity, Lastminute, Zuji, said she would visit and work with attendants to connect regional business. Mr Nguyen Hung Cuong, a representative of the US-based Intec Group, revealed that they will seek business partners at the fair for a five-star coastal resort in Vietnam.
FORUM
Ms. Le Thi Anh, Deputy Director of Northern Office for Vietnam Airlines:
The aviation and tourism industries have close, reciprocal relations; hence, Vietnam Airlines is always concerned with and supports activities developing the Vietnamese tourism industry, through its organisation and sponsoring of culture and tourism festivals in foreign countries like France, Russia and Australia, as well as inside Vietnam like in Hue. This first TCA is a practical activity and a big chance for companies to approach, exchange, promote and sign business contracts with partners. In addition to sponsoring the trade fair, we also take part in activities promoting tourism by providing transportation. Our well-designed 80-square meter booth will feature attractive summer 2007 offers for visitors.
Bui Duc Hanh, Hanoi Station Manager of AirAsia:
As a new budget airline, with more than a year in Vietnam, Air Asia can reach today’s achievements thanks primarily to incentive policies and support from competent tourism agencies, which facilitate the popularisation of trademark quality. On this occasion, as a trade fair sponsor, Air Asia also displays its service packages for tourists and travellers. At the fair, visitors can directly contact the budget airline AirAsia to explore the attractive offers, service personnel and opportunities to buy preferential tickets for Asian tours on the more than 80 routes operated by AirAsia.
