HCM City Reaps US$6.6Bln from Exports in First Half
Ho Chi Minh City is estimated to earn nearly US$6.6 billion from goods export in the first half of this year, a slight on-year decrease of 2.6 per cent, said the municipal statistics department.
The department said foreign-invested firms contribute US$1.36 billion to the aggregate earnings, up 6.9 per cent on-year and domestic ones with US$5.21 billion, down 4.8 per cent.
If crude oil export value is not counted, the city’s export revenue is US$2.81 billion, up 9.6 per cent on-year, it noted.
The city pocketed US$483.4 million from outbound shipments of garments, up 10.3 per cent on-year, and US$249 million from rice, up 9.6 per cent, US$120.8 million from footwear, up 2.1 per cent and US$107.6 million from seafood, up 6.3 per cent.
During the period, Ho Chi Minh City spends US$3.56 million to import goods, up 10.7 per cent. The figure results in the city’s trade surplus of US$3.04 billion during the first half.
This year, Ho Chi Minh aims to fetch US$15.7 billion from exports, an on-year increase of 14.9 per cent. (Vietnam & World Economy)
