WB Funds US$62.5Mln for Central Highland Province's Irrigation Network

The World Bank (WB) has recently financed VND1 trillion (US$62.5 million) to upgrade the Dau Tieng irrigation network in the central highland province of Tay Ninh, Liberated Saigon reported Monday.
 
A joint venture between Lam Dong Irrigation Construction Company and Ho Chi Minh City-based Thanh Dat Company is carrying out the work and is expected to finish the project by end-2010.
 
Over 120 reservoirs throughout Vietnam are seriously degrading and could break during flood season this year, said the Irrigation Department under of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
 
The Ministry has used VND2.7 trillion (US$168.75 million) from ODA and WB loans to repair 10 big reservoirs in the first half. (Liberated Saigon)
