Southern Hub to Build Six New IPs by 2020
Ho Chi Minh City will build six more industrial parks (IPs) by 2020, raising the city’s total number of IP and export processing zones (EPZs) to 22 to attract more foreign investments under a plan recently approved by the municipal People’s Committee, state media said.
The six parks will cover over 1,422ha in Cu Chi, Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon and district 9.
Cu Chi district’s zones including Bau Dung (175ha) and Dong Nam (338ha) will be for mechanics and Phuoc Hiep for production of chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
The Vinh Loc IP, located at 200ha in Binh Chanh district, will serve the manufacture of chemical products.
While the 162-ha Phu Huu park in district 9 will offered warehouses, parking lots and other facilities for marine logistics and the 300-ha Xuan Thoi Thuong park in Hoc Mon district would process agricultural products.
The southern hub now houses 12 IPs and three EPZs, which attracted US$154 million in both domestic and foreign investment capital in the first six months this year, representing an on-year growth of 7.5 per cent.
These zones are expected to lure US$560 million in investment in 2007. (Thanhniennews)
