India IT Giant Eyes Outsourcing in Vietnam

India’s Satyam Computer Services Corp is planning to open branches in Vietnam aiming to maintain its world leading position in outsourcing services, VietnamNet online said Tuesday.
 
The consideration is part of Satyam’s strategy to re-export outsourcing products to countries and territories with low production costs while the number of local experts is increasing sharply.
 
Its experts in India are paid by Satyam Computer Services Corp, three times higher than those in Vietnam; local media cited the corporation news source as saying.
 
According to A.T. Kearney consultative company, Vietnam is one of 55 countries that are strongly developing outsourcing industry.
 
In the first nine months, Vietnam exported US$1.5 billion electronic and computer parts, up 23.6 per cent on year, excluding US$629 million of electric wire and cables, up 27.3 per cent on year, said the General Statistics Office. (Vietnamnet, www.moneycontrol.com, GSO Sept Edition)
