The management board of the Hoa Lac hi-tech zone in northern Ha Tay province has recently licensed four new projects valued at VND2.9 trillion (US$185.6 million), all from local investors, state media reported.

The largest project is a VND1.4 trillion new materials plant for the solar energy industry by Silicon Thai Duong Hang Chinh Vietnam Ltd. Co., followed by a VND1.1 trillion cell phone and circuit board plant by the Thuan Phat Joint Stock Company.

The two remaining projects are a VND281 billion Viettel hi-tech centre by the military run telecom corporation and a VND128 billion Laser Technology Center.

So far this year, hundreds of business delegations from Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, the U.S., and China have come to the park for investment opportunities.

Presently, the U.S’s APSS Company, Australia’s NPC Company, South Korea-based ACE Co. and IMI from Philippines and some local companies are still waiting for the park authority’s approval to carry out projects here.

Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park is among Vietnam’s three key Japan-assisted projects besides the north-south highway, the north-south express railway.

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has pledged to send Japanese experts to improve the park’s investment environment and also will work as a bridge for Japanese investors to enter Hoa Lac. (New Hanoi, VNA)
