Vietnam to Import 230,000 Tons of Industrial Salt This Year
Vietnam is forecast to import 230,000 tons of salt this year, mainly for food and chemical production, said a report of the Foreign Trade magazine.
The Southeast Asia country is expected to consume 1.34 million tons of salt this year, said the report, adding that it produced 926,000 tons last year and imported 138,000 tons of industrial salt.
Vietnam now has no specific tax regulations on importing this type of commodity; however, it is estimated to use 1.5 million tons in 2010 and two million tons in 2020.
