’s shipbuilding industry is listed among top five world-biggest, the Vietnam News Agency cited the U.K.s’ Fairplay (International Shipping Weekly) magazine as saying.
The industry is forecast to climb the fourth position in 2015 from the fifth at the moment, said Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group President Pham Thanh Binh.
Vinashin has invested in developing the industry’s labor force by sending technicians to , and for training, and employ international consultants and supervisors on building projects.
The state-run group is running 18 industrial parks, a diesel hydraulic engine factory, steel plants, 200 shipyards nationwide with capacity to build oil tankers greater than 300,000 tons.
The industry need to increase the local contents of high value added part in each ship built. It targeted to raise the rate to 60% in 2010 and 75% in 2015, VNA quoted General Director Nguyen Quoc Anh as saying.
