HCMC to Yearly Export US$4Mln Ornamental Fish

Ho Chi Minh City is expected to earn up to US$4 million from exporting ornamental fish a year, the city’s Quality Management and Benefit Protection Department was cited by Vietnam News Agency as saying Wednesday.
 
In January-May period, ornamental fish breeders and raisers in the city were estimated to have shipped abroad 1.75 million fish of 60 species to European markets, the U.S., Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
 
Last year, the city bagged US$4 million from shipment of 3.7 million fish, the department said.
 
Most fish raisers are in districts 8, 12, Go Vap, Binh Thanh and Cu Chi district, the agency said.
 
HCM City currently has 276 shops with average annual revenues of VND860 million and VND365 million profit each. (Laborer, VNA)
