Donors Finance US$1.35 Bln ODA to Northern Vietnam
International institutions including the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, Japan, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark and EU have financed more than US$1.35 billon for northern mountainous provinces since 1993.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Planning and Investment assessed that many ODA-funded projects in northern Vietnam show supports from international donors to help narrow rich-poor gap and improve living conditions for locals amid limited state budgets, the Thoi Bao Tai Chinh Viet Nam newspaper said.
To improve effectiveness of ODA usage, MPI will assist these provinces to complete the legal mechanism, improve their capacity to prepare, appraise and implement projects.
The ministry will coordinate with localities to build medium, long-term strategies to manage public investment projects including ODA ones. (Vietnam Financial Times, Transport)
