Japan Lists Central City among Attractive Destinations in Asia
Japanese investors see the central city of Danang as one of attractive emerging destinations in Asia, according to the municipal Representative Office in Tokyo.
The office said, for the first time, Danang has been named among 30 big cities in Asia surveyed for investment cost comparison by the Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro).
Two Vietnamese economic centers of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are also included in the list.
According to Jetro, Danang is attracting Japanese companies’ attention for its advantages, particularly improved infrastructure. The city, the gateway of the East-West Economic Corridor, is home to sea ports and an international airport.
Costs for laborers and intermediate managers only account for 83.3 per cent and 70.8 per cent of Hanoi’s rates respectively. In addition, office rentals are quite low compared to many other cities in Vietnam.
To lure more Japanese investors to Danang, the city’s office in Tokyo has joined hands with Jetro to send business missions to the locality for exploring the investment environment, mainly in the areas of supporting industries, hi-tech and IT.
Danang now houses 29 Japanese companies’ projects worth a total capital of some US$250 million. (Pioneer)
