Singapore Firm Explores Opportunities in Vietnam Central Province
Representatives of Singapore’s Sembcorp Group and the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) joint venture Aug 15 came to central Quang Ngai province to look for investment opportunity, Vietnam News Agency said.
Sembcorp, which keeps a dominant stake in VSIP, plans to set up a service facility in the province to supply electricity, water as well as environmental treatment to factories in the Dung Quat Economic Zone.
The Sembcorp representative also emphasized the need to build a petrochemical industrial zone next to the Dung Quat oil refinery to fully tap its economic efficiency.
The company focuses on the four core services of utilities, marine, environment and industrial parks, operating in Singapore, the United Kingdom, the Middle East and across Asia.
It employs 7,000 workers worldwide and manages total assets of US$8.7 billion.
Sembcorp has worked with northern Haiphong city’s authorities on studying a project to build an industrial-urban area-services complex in the city, local Vietnam Economic Times reported.
The group has also invested to build a 700-hectare industrial park in northern Bac Ninh province, becoming the third Vietnam-Singapore industrial park in the Southeast Asian country. (VNA)
