Capitals of Vietnam, Russia Tighten Ties

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao and the visiting Mayor of Moscow Yury Luzhkov jointly signed a joint statement between the two capital cities and a cooperative pact between their friendship associations Nov 26 in Hanoi.
 
Under the signed deals, the two sides pledged to mutually support to speed up the construction of the Hanoi-Moscow Cultural and Trade Center in Moscow and the Moscow House in Hanoi, contributing to serve the interests of the two cities and the two nations as a whole.
 
Mayor Thao also proposed a plan to host a Moscow Culture Week in Hanoi during 2009 and extended an invitation to a Moscow delegation to attend the Hanoi-Thang Long Millennium Anniversary in 2010.
 
In reply, Luzhkov agreed to send a delegation of artists to perform at the anniversary celebrations.
 
Earlier, the Moscow leader also paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi.
 
Mayor Luzhkov and his delegation will conclude their three-day visit on November 28 after calling at Ho Chi Minh City and working with the city’s leaders. (News, VNA)
