Vietnam is forecast to import 16.5 million tons of refined petroleum products in 2010 to feed annual local demand of between 16.5 million tons and 17 million tons, state media reported.
Officially operation of Vietnam’s first oil refinery Dung Quat in 2010, with expected products of 900-1,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 650-9,000 tons of kerosene and JA1 jet fuel, 7,000-9,000 tons of diesel oil, and around 6,000 tons of gasoline per day, will help meet 30-40 per cent of domestic demands.

The refinery's managing board recently fulfilled importation of a total 65,000 tons of diesel oil (DO) as well as received the first 80,000 tons of crude oil from Bach Ho oil field for the plant's test run.

So far, the underway US$2.5 billion oil refinery has almost 98 per cent of its construction workload completed with an expected for trial run in February 2009.

The nation is expected to consume up to 14 million metric tons of petroleum products next year, up 7.7 per cent from this year's projected demand of 13 million tons. It will import around 12.2 million tons of the products in 2009, of which one million will be re-exported and the rest of 11.2 million tons will serve domestic demand. (http://www.ktdt.com.vn)
