Cheaper Tour Prices Lure More Vietnamese abroad
The low prices for foreign and domestic tours announced by domestic travel agencies last month have attracted more and more Vietnamese abroad, the Vietnam News Agency has reported.
“Despite the global financial crisis, the number of bookings for our tours to Asian countries and territories like Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong has not declined,” said Huynh Thu Dung, head of Vietravel’s Press Office.
Saigontourist and other travel firms have also lowered tour prices and launched promotion programs to lure more bookings.
Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Beijing, and Cambodia are still their favorite choices, Dung added.
Domestic tours have also been attractive to local people.
"We hope bookings for other tours will increase in the next two or three weeks after people receive their Tet bonus, and then many of them are looking to retreat from the city’s hectic pace during the festival days,” he added
Last year, outbound tours attracted almost 600,000 citizens from the southern economic hub and surrounding provinces, 12 per cent more than the previous year. (VNA)
