Vietnam Stock Market Evaporates US$13 Bln This Year

The stock market of Vietnam has seen its market capitalization value evaporate VND223.3 trillion (US$13.1 billion), or 51.02 per cent, since the beginning of this year.
 
So far, the total market capitalization of both Hochiminh Stock Exchange (HOSE) and Hanoi Securities Trading Center (HASTC) is estimated at VND214.3 trillion (US$12.6 billion), compared to VND437.6 trillion early this year.
 
In particular, the market value on the HOSE has fallen 50.1 per cent and now fluctuates around VND164.5 trillion, while the HASTC has seen its value fall 53.8 per cent at VND49.9 trillion.
 
The market index has come back with its level in January of 2006.
 
Domestic analysts have recently urged the country to take urgent measures to support the stock market recovery next year amid the worst scenario of the global economic slowdown. (Financial Investment)
