Vietnam 08 Retail Sales, Services +31 per cent to VND968.067 Tln

Vietnam reportedly made total retail sales and service of VND968.067 trillion (US$57.282 billion) in 2008, up 31 per cent on year, the government-run General Statistics Office has said.

 

In December last year, Vietnam obtained VND94.201 trillion (US$5.574 billion) retail sales and services, GSO said, not giving out comparative figures.

 

Of the total sales and figures of 2008, individual retail sales hit VND538.148 trillion (US$31.843 billion), up 32.2 per cent on year, followed by private-owned sector with VND284.544 trillion (US$16.836 billion), up 34.3 per cent, state-owned sector with VND112.893 trillion, up 20.4 per cent and foreign-invested sector with 22.664 trillion, up 20.9 per cent.

 

Vietnam’s population is 86.160 million with GDP per capita income of US$1,024, state media said.

 

Vietnam has pledged to open retail market to foreigners from Jan 1 of 2009. (GSO Dec 2008)
