Global Summit of Women 2009: Meeting of Women Entrepreneurs
The Global Summit of Women, which gathers female leaders in business and State management has been regarded as “Davos (World Economic Forum) of Women.” In the past 18 years, the forum has actively recommended governments, leaders of States and international organizations on gender equality, improvement of living and working conditions as well as women’s role in society. With the theme “New model of leadership for businesses and politicians,” the Global Summit of Women 19 will be held on May 14-16, 2009 in Santiago, Chile.
Rotating by continents annually, the Summit has formed a global alliance sharing the best experiences and successful business strategies as well as solutions to problems of women’s role in business and socio-political activities. In 2008, with the theme “Asian Women – driving force of global economic development”, the Global Summit of Women 18 was successfully held in Vietnam with 900 representatives from over 70 countries. Concluding the Summit, Ms Irene Natividad, President of the Summit pointed out: «Women make 80 percent of the purchasing decisions in developed countries, they represent a powerful economic force. The responsibility of the delegates after this Summit is to persuade women in their neighbourhood on environment protection and purchasing decisions such as non-use of undissolvable bags, boycotting products of companies violating environment protection.
This year, with the theme “New model of leadership for businesses and politicians”, the meeting will start with Pre-Summit Round table of Female Ministers. It will be a dialogue on public and private cooperation for economic growth. The Plenary Meeting will cover business tendencies in regions and worldwide, practical strategies for business development, and business strategies in different parts of the world. There will be four working groups on development of leading capacity, businesses, micro businesses and hot issues. Over 80 speakers from all continents will make a contribution to the event. Opportunities for exchanges of views and cooperation are available at breakfasts, lunches, and receptions during the Summit.
After 18 years of successful meetings, the Summit with the participation of women entrepreneurs, experts, government officials, representatives of international organizations will be an important meeting, uniting women of high positions to recommend governments on business development and gender equality worldwide.
